Your guide to the Leicester Racecourse Ladies Day 2017
This Saturday the 8th July will see the biggest day of the year at Leicester Racecourse – Ladies Day!
By now you probably have your frock sorted and are ready and raring to go – so here is our guide to everything you need to know on the day!
What are the timings for the day?
10.00am – Gates open
12.00 – 12.40pm – Jaki Graham
1.55pm – First race
3.20pm – Best Dressed winner announced
5.30pm – Last race
5.45pm – 6.15pm – Karen Harding
6.30 – 7.15pm – All Saints
7.30 – 9.00pm – Mark Wright
After 9:00pm – Fireworks
Who is performing?
Jaki Graham kicks things off at 12:00 and will no doubt be performing some of her best known UK top 10 hits including “Round and around” and “Set me free”. Jaki had three UK top 10 hits and six UK top 40 hits in a career spanning the 80’s and 90’s. She is probably best known for her duet “Could it be I’m falling in love?” with David Grant which reached number 5 in March 1985.
Next up after the final race is Karen Harding, who appeared on 2010’s Eurovision: Your Country Needs You before releasing “Say Something” – her first single in 2015 which reached number 7 in the UK charts. She has since appeared as a featured artist on singles for the likes of Blonde and Wilkinson.
The headliners are then on at 6:30 – the one and only All Saints. All Saints were one of the biggest girl groups of the 90’s, selling 12 million records and having hits such as “Never Ever”, “Lady Marmalade” and “Pure Shores”. Famous for their excessive combat trouser wearing, the girls also won two Brits and an Ivor Novello and “Never Ever” is the all-time second biggest selling single by a girl group in the UK, beaten only by the Spice Girls’ “Wannabe”.
To close the night ex-The Only Way Is Essex star Mark Wright will be on stage playing some of his favourite Club Classics.
What facilities will there be?
There will be various bars including the Leicester Racecourse bars and pop up bars serving Pimms, Prosecco and Gin – and probably anything else the ladies like. There will be different cuisines on offer from various food traders. There will also be hairdressers and make-up artists on hand to keep you looking your best, and a “best dressed lady” competition – so make sure you go all out!
How do I get a ticket?
General admission tickets are priced at £30 in advance, via the Leicester Racecourse website here or by calling 0116 271 6515
Tickets will be £40 on the day and there are various hospitality and VIP packages available.
How do I know which horses are racing?
If you like to look at these things beforehand you can take a look at the racecard for the day on numerous websites – we found a clear guide here: http://www.attheraces.com/racecards/Leicester/08-Jul-2017
Where can I stay?
If you’re looking for a hotel room nearby you have a few great options – but book quick as these are likely to go!
A great option is the College Court Conference Centre and Hotel which has single rooms from £59 and double rooms from £74.
Another great option is the Ramada Stage Hotel which is very close to the racecourse and has double rooms from £107.
If you’re planning to go in to town and party the night away then a more central hotel may be a better option. We like:
The Ramada Encore with rooms for 2 people from £130 and for 3 people from £145 and;
The Holiday Inn with rooms from £96 and its great location close to the High Street bars.
We hope you have a great time!
