Leicester ice rink – everything you need to know about the Christmas ice rink in Jubilee Square

If you didn’t already know, Leicester is set to get its very own ice rink over the Christmas period.
This is surely going to be a very popular addition to the festive season in Leicester, so we have put all the information about the ice rink together in one place for you – if you have any further questions let us know in the comments below…
Where will the ice rink be?
The ice rink will be in Jubilee Square – the same place the ferris wheel was last year. The plan is to have the ice rink and ferris wheel together at the same spot.
When will the ice rink be open?
The ice rink will open to the public from Saturday 9 December and all through the Christmas period (until 8 January 2018)
Opening times are: 11am – 9pm and the rink will be open seven days a week.
Is it real ice?
Sure is, none of that fake rubbish for the good people of Leicester!
Is the ice rink covered?
Yes, there will be a clear roof covering the ice so that you can skate in all weathers and look up at the Christmas Wheel of Light as you do so.
When are tickets on sale?
Advance tickets for the Leicester ice rink went on sale today – 13 October 2017. So if you want to reserve your spot on the ice then it is recommended you book tickets now.
Tickets are on sale from the Visit Leicester website.
How much do tickets cost?
The price of the ice rink tickets are split between peak and off-peak costs. Off-peak is 11am-4pm Monday to Friday, excluding Bank Holidays.
Off-peak prices: £8 for adults | £6.50 for children/concessions
Peak prices: £9 for adults | £7.50 for children/concessions
That gets you ice skate hire and 45 minutes on the ice.
As well as skate hire, there will also be free skating aids available for children (and wobbly adults!)
Each session begins on the hour, and you should arrive 30 minutes before your session to allow time to change into skates etc…
Do I have to book tickets in advance?
Tickets will be on sale from the box office next to the ice rink, but it is recommended that you book in advance in order to make sure you get your preferred skating time and to avoid disappointment if the sessions are all booked up.
How old do children need to be to use the ice rink?
All children over the age of 4 are able to skate on the ice.
