Man dies after falling from NCP car park on Abbey Street, Leicester city centre

A man fell to his death from a multi-storey car park in Leicester city centre this morning.
The area around Abbey Street – near St Margaret’s Bus Station – was cordoned off following the discovery of the as yet unnamed man, and it is still unclear whether he jumped or fell from the NCP on Abbey Street and Garden Street.
Builder’s working on the currently derelict Sky Plaza Hotel found the body of a man and called the emergency services at around 11:30am this morning (Saturday 17 January). The man was then pronounced dead at the scene.
A spokeswoman for Leicestershire Police said:
“Officers were called by the ambulance service to Garden Street, Leicester, at about 11.30am on Saturday, where a man had been found seriously injured.
The man was later pronounced dead at the scene and Garden Street is closed to traffic while enquiries were carried out.
At this stage the death is not being treated as suspicious and a file is being prepared for the coroner.”
