North Bar and Kitchen opens today at old Entropy site
A brand new restaurant and bar has opened today in the Braunstone Gate area of the city.
North Bar and Kitchen has taken over the site where the award-winning Entropy used to be on Hinckley Road, and will be showing the results of a £150,000 refurbishment.
The co-owner of North Bar and Kitchen, Sally Davis said of the new venue:
“The building is a real landmark in the West End and we wanted our refurbishment to be sympathetic, but also to mark our arrival as a premium venue in the area. We are proud to be adding another great destination to the West End, bringing extra customers and footfall to Hinckley Road. For us, it is exciting that the former restaurant had a great reputation. Hopefully, we can build on that.”
The name of the new restaurant/bar was taken from the historical ‘H. North Purveyors’ sign that has been on the building for years and has become something of a local landmark. Leicester City Council actually helped the new owners with a grant so that the sign and the front of the building could be restored.
North Bar and Kitchen aims to be a ‘flexible venue’ in that it is a great spot for all occasions, from celebrations and parties to romantic meals.
The food on offer draws inspiration from the owners’ love of travel – so there is a lot of different cultures reflected in the menu. The menu is predominantly traditional British food with a contemporary European twist. So for instance there’s Chicken Breast stuffed with Pesto and wrapped in Parma Ham, as well as the ever popular traditional Sunday roast!
In terms of drinks, there’s a great selection of wines as well as an extensive cocktail menu.
